Summary: Faramir visits his father one last time.
K+
I come to share a secret with you - one that I have held in my heart for almost all of my years of life. It is a secret that not even you, who read the hearts of men, ever discovered. You thought I spoke to my brother of all things, but knowing this would have pained him greatly.
I begin a new life this day and now seems the right time to speak of it.
One thing you and I shared was our love for Boromir. Greatly do I miss him, especially on this day, but in dying, he presented me with one last gift. His death drove you beyond reason and compelled you to end your own life. In doing so, you freed me to wed.
Never would I have wed while you lived. Never would I have had a wife treated as 'less' simply because she was mine. She would have desired children and I would have placed no child of mine within your reach. I not have had them belittled or made to feel a failure simply because he or she was not Boromir's child.
Remember me to Mother and Boromir and tell my brother that on this day I am to wed Eowyn of Rohan. It will please him to know that the void in my life that his death created will be filled, in part, by the love of a wife.
I am sorry you never knew me, Father. That you never believed in me or in my love for Gondor. I grieve for what might have been, but I am putting that aside today, never to bring it to light again.
I have been denied Boromir's presence, but Aragorn and the others await me. I must not be late.
Farewell, Father.
