Our theme for July is "Trees".
Trees have always been something more than just plants to the mankind. The worship of trees might be forgotten, but still the symbol of tree survives in our subconscious. Almost every nation has myths and legends about trees, placing the tree as the central axis of the world, or worshipping it as a dwelling place of gods or spirits, the giver of knowledge, connection between worlds or as ancestors of the tribe. In Tolkien's world, the old legends echo strongly, and trees have an important role, far beyond their value for wood, fruit and shade - from the Two Trees, Ents, Old Man Willow to the White Tree of Gondor, they were the givers of light, conscious beings, symbols...
Look out of the window, or go to the forest, and see the green leaves whispering in the wind. Maybe you will be inspired for a story about Trees. You can write about the trees of Mirkwood, and how they influenced Legolas, about the birches that watched Aragorn's first meeting with Arwen or mallorns watching their bethrothing. You can write about our heroes in the Old Forest or Fangorn, or about the White Tree of Gondor. Remember that Aragorn or Legolas don't have to be the main characters, but they should be mentioned in the story.
