For July and August, we are offering a different sort of challenge; to write a story inspired by a sound!

Footsteps...
Listen to the sound and try to imagine who could have made it. Where was he or she going? What does the pace tell you about them? What is the surface they are sounding on, and is it inside or outside? Do the footsteps sound congruous with the environment or are they out of place? Who is listening to those steps and why?
Could they be in the hallway outside a door where a child playing truant in Bree is trying to hide from their father? Perhaps it is the sound of the night watch in Minas Tirith, reassuring and calming in the middle of a dark night. Maybe a Rider of Rohan has returned home at last from a patrol along the borders of Dunland, and is walking towards his bed to find rest.
