The theme for June and July is Songs. Thanks to Shire Rose for the suggestion!
Songs have been used since language was invented, and for a wide variety of reasons. Some songs preserve history, or make it easier to remember a list. A love song can melt our hearts, while a battle song can stir us to action. Others are cautionary tales, and some are purely for entertainment.
There is no end to the ways that songs can be used. Perhaps a Gondorian farmer sings to himself to help keep a steady rhythm as he harvests his grain. Sailors from Dol Amroth might sing a chanty together as they hoist the sails at the start of a journey up the Anduin, to help them coordinate their efforts. An Elvish maid walking through the woods of Lothlorien might sing The Lay of Luthien as she dreams of finding her own true love. A fussy child of Harad might be soothed by the lullaby sung by her father. A young girl of Rohan might sit by a roaring bonfire as she listens to the Riders singing of glorious battles of old
